ABOVE THE BARRE

Whether a preschooler learning to do her first cartwheel, a dancer performing the principal role in a ballet or a youngster scaling the warped wall on the ninja obstacle course in a personal best time, these characteristics are at the core of everything we do at Above the Barre. As Northeast Ohio’s premier dance and gymnastics studio, our mission is to help students build confidence and coordination through the use of interactive learning environments while instilling in them a passion for arts and athletics.

Early Childhood

It’s never too early to start! As soon as your child starts walking, we have programs that will help develop coordination and social skills.

Gymnastics

Learn how gymnastics builds strength, agility, coordination, quickness and confidence.

Dance

Discover myriad dance styles and enjoy learning new movements in a fun environment.

Ninja

A combination of movements based on American Ninja Warrior, parkour and gymnastics all combine to improve your balance, agility and strength, as well as mental toughness.

Dance-Nastics

Relish the best of both worlds when you combine both dance and gymnastics.

Cirque Program

Fly high with a combination of dance and acrobatic movements while suspended in the air using silks and lyra hoops.

Adult

You are never too old to discover the joy in dance and gymnastics. And it’s a fun way to keep fit.

Open Gyms

Bring a friend and discover all we have to offer—at your own pace. All ages, from preschoolers to school-age children to adults, have access to all the equipment that will have you climbing, jumping, bouncing and having a ball.

Let us be your host! We can create memorable birthday parties and more. We also rent out our entire facility, whether looking for corporate team-building activities or a private studio to videotape your dance routines.

Show off what you have learned in a fun, low-stress, professional performance. We host various dance recitals in summer in a local theater, and also perform the full-length Nutcracker for the holidays.

  • When do classes start?

    We have open enrollment, so you can start any time throughout the year.

  • At what age can you start classes?

    As soon as your child starts walking, we have programs for your family. We offer programming ranging from child-parent classes, to camps for preschool children and school-age children, to adult classes.

  • How do you ensure safety?

    All of our instructors are screened with background checks, and they also are certified by the U.S. Center for SafeSport. We provide an environment that is healthy both physically and mentally. 

  • What types of dance classes do you offer?

    We have a diverse class schedule, from ballet to hip hop, tap, jazz, contemporary, musical theater and aerial arts.

  • Do you have boys’ gymnastics?

    Yes, we have gymnastic classes tailored for boys, as well as dance classes and ninja classes that appeal to all. We have one of the largest boys’ gymnastics programs in the area, with many nationally ranked students.

  • Do you rent your facility?

    Yes, we can host private birthday parties and corporate team-building activities. Plus, you can also rent our facility to record your own videos and music.
