Above the Barre Safety Standards
Our Safety Standards
From landing mats and pits surrounding the gymnastics apparatus to employee background checks and mindful use of chemical cleaners, at Above the Barre we put kids first, making safety our top priority.
We have a fully stocked first aid kit on premises that follows the USA Gymnastics safety guidelines. For added safety, our staff also has been trained by the Berea Fire Department to safely remove an injured child from the pit without pulling on arms and legs.
All of our employees, even office staff members, are certified in concussion protocol by the National Federation of State High School Associations. They know how to recognize concussion signs and symptoms and how to respond. They also know the proper protocol for determining when it is safe for athletes to return to activities.
Employee Background Checks
All of our employees undergo a comprehensive interview and background check. We look for staff members who not only have solid experience and an advanced skill set, but also those with a caring, patient demeanor toward children.Click here to read more about the NFHS.
We monitor our equipment daily and check to ensure it is properly set up before use as well as properly sanitized. Regular preventive maintenance ensures all equipment is safe and secure.
We are mindful of the chemical cleaners we use and balance that with keeping a clean, sanitary environment. We stay up to date with cleaning every day and have a full service cleaning company at both locations 6 days a week.
