New Facility

Above the Barre is sporting a “brand new” facility!
In 2002, Above the Barre opened next to Thome Ohio Gymnastics. Since then, Susan Barr, owner and director, has built her business into one of the most successful dance studios in the area.
Susan seized an amazing opportunity when Thome Ohio Gymnastics decided to end their business and close their doors. Recognizing the potential for growth, Susan has taken Above the Barre to the next level by purchasing and completely revamping the entire facility.
This summer, Above the Barre expanded into the gymnastics facility. The new and completely remodeled facility is ready for the start of the 2008-2009 year.
Above the Barre is now offering not only dance but gymnastics as well. Students will have a wide range of options, and they will benefit greatly from the well rounded approach to dance and gymnastics that Susan’s programs provide.
All of the gymnastics equipment is new, state-of-the-art equipment. Above the Barre offers a new uneven bar system for the younger students, along with new vaulting equipment. Everything is designed around the safety of the children. In the near future, there will be an in-ground pit full of foam for safety enhanced tumbling and trampoline activities.
The Galaxy Gym is specially designed for preschool-aged children with its cool blue and purple tones and decorative stars and moons. The preschool and beginner’s gym has its own special “right-sized” equipment for training and developing the skills of younger children. Young children will have their own set of uneven bars, a balance beam, safety floor, preschool vaulting stations and rings for the boys.
Above the Barre provides a warm and friendly atmosphere to compliment Susan’s primary concern – fostering the emotional development of the children.
The new facility includes four dance rooms all equipped with spring floors for safety. Acro classes are taught on the gym floor.
Above the Barre is located at 1450 West Bagley Road in Berea.
